The Alto Douro wine region was considered by UNESCO on December 14, 2001 as a World Heritage Site in the category of cultural landscape.

Barca d’Alva
It is a village located in a beautiful valley on the left bank of the Douro, close to the border with Spain and inserted in the Douro International Natural Park.

Carrapatelo Dam
The Carrapatelo dam is located on the border of the Porto and Viseu districts. Opened in 1972, it was the first dam to be built on the national section of the Douro River. It is the Douro dam with the highest elevation difference of 35m.

Harvest in Douro
September is harvest season in the Douro. Visiting the Douro during the harvest is getting to know the soul of the Douro people and understanding the uniqueness and special character of Port Wine.

Douro River
The Douro is the 2nd largest river in the Iberian peninsula. The Douro, more than a river, was once an essential transport channel for transporting Douro wine and people. But the Douro used to be a dangerous river where only Rabelo boats could navigate. Nowadays, the Douro, with the construction of several dams along its course, is a completely navigable and safe river, which has allowed it to be enjoyed by tourists through countless cruises that travel along it daily.
